8 GOP Senators Are Making a Stand Following Trump Trial

While there’s no shortage of politicians willing to crowd their way in front of TV cameras to make statements following last week’s guilty verdicts in former president Donald Trump’s New York trial, a group of 8 GOP U.S. Senators say they are ready to take decisive action.

On May 31, Sen. Mike Lee (R-UT) along with members of a Senate Republican Conference decried how the U.S. judicial system is being weaponized to punish political opponents and urged their fellow Senators to take a stand until there is accountability for those who are perverting the justice system.

Lee is joined by U.S. Senators J.D. Vance (R-OH), Tommy Tuberville (R-AL), Marsha Blackburn (R-TN), Roger Marshall (R-KS), Eric Schmitt (R-MO), Rick Scott (R-FL) and Marco Rubio (R-Fl).

The letter signed by the Senators describes how the White House has made a mockery of the rule of law and distorted our political system in un-American ways.

In response, the Senators pledged to not allow any increase in non-security related funding for the Biden administration or any appropriations bill that funds partisan warfare.

They also will refuse to vote to confirm the administration’s political and judicial nominees and not to allow consideration or passage of any Democrat legislation or authorities that aren’t directly related to the safety of the American people.

These three steps are a clear roadblock to the Biden administration and its various state allies who have pulled out all stops in an effort to prevent Trump from being on the ballot in November.

The letter also draws a bright line between GOP members of Congress who are willing to stand up to the Uniparty and those who are not.

Eight Senators who have had enough is a good start but it also illustrates the problem with GOP and Democrat lawmakers whose loyalty is to the Uniparty rather than with the Constitution or their constituents.
