Haley Takes Aim At Trump: RNC Moves Questioned

Lara Trump speaks at the Republican National Convention on Wednesday, Aug. 26, 2020.

Republican presidential hopeful Nikki Haley is accusing President Donald Trump of nefarious motives in recommending his daughter-in-law for a post with the Republican National Committee.

"That's how he intends to "steal" the election, Haley charged.

It is NBC that reported on comments made by Haley at a campaign event in South Carolina.

"Now he has decided he has fired the RNC chair. He's named who's going to be the new RNC chair. His daughter-in-law will be the co-chair and he is making his campaign manager the officer that runs the party," the report quoted Haley.

While a resignation has not been announced it is expected that current RNC chair Ronna McDaniel will step down shortly after the South Carolina Primary Feb. 24.

Haley charged, "Think about what’s happening right now. Is that how you’re gonna try and take an election?"

A Trump team member responded, "Nikki ‘Braindead Birdbrain’ Haley reeks of desperation as it’s clear she knows she has no shot, and is now auditioning for a cable news contract when her 15 minutes are over. But not before she can squeeze every last dollar out of her Democrat benefactors."

Just a day ago Trump announced his endorsement of Michael Whatley to be the next RNC chief, and said he would recommend his daughter-in-law and former campaign adviser Lara Trump for co-chair.

He noted Whatley has "done a great job in his home state of North Carolina," where he is the state party chair and general counsel for the RNC.

Lara Trump is married to Trump's son, Eric, and doesn't have that level of political experience, but she did assist Trump's campaigns in 2016 and 2020.

The network reported there have been "signs" that McDnaiel might be on her way out.
